Danish Water and Waste Water Association
Danish Water and Waste Water Association (DANVA) is a national association of water and waste water utilities. DANVA is a non-profit organization funded by the members, who are utilities, municipalities, consultants, contractors and personal members.
The members are responsible for 85 per cent of the Danish drinking water supply and for the collection and treatment of waste water from about 85 per cent of the Danish population.
DANVA’s mission:
DANVA is the natural professional organization for the members with regards to sustainable providing and delivery of good drinking water and removal of waste water, for the benefit of the consumers.

DANVA is the natural focus and voice of the Danish water and waste water utilities.
DANVA is a broad interest organization that collaborates with stakeholders in the field.
The association continuously improves the framework for its members by technical and political initiatives on all levels.
DANVA's organisation
The Executive Commitee is supported by a secretariat and a Technical Advisory Board. The professional work is organised in four committees - groundwater, water supply, waste water and sewage systems - and in five focus areas:

DANVA's task
The objective of the association is to look after the common interests of Danish water and sewerage suppliers in promoting a steady and high-quality water and sewerage supply on an environmentally sustainable basis.
As a planning and supervising authority, any local authority, with or without public (municipal) water supply and sewerage in its area, may need service from the association.
DANVA looks after the common interests of its members in relation to public authorities, interest groups, EU, etc.,
DANVA assists its members in all matters related to water supply and sewerage,
DANVA cooperates with authorities, institutions, companies and other associations.
DANVA cooperates with international institutions.
DANVA organizes training and education in all water supply and sewerage related subjects.
DANVA arranges meetings, seminars and conferences on technical, economic, legal, environmental and administrative subjects.
DANVA publicizes guidelines, regulations, statistics PR-materials and a magazine.
DANVA informs on all matters regarding water supply and sewage.
DANVA appoints to committees, commissions etc. dealing with subjects related to water supply and sewerage. The association also participates in these fora.
DANVA supports research and development projects important to water supply and sewerage, and runs its own research and development foundation.
DANVA promotes cooperation between its members and between people interested in water and sewerage supply.
The cornerstone of DANVA activities is the voluntary work of a large group of active members and professionals from authorities, institutions and companies in the association's network. More than one hundred persons are involved in committees and task forces, and as teachers on the in-service training courses.
DANVA has an important influence on the elaboration of laws, norms, standards, etc. through its extensive cooperation with national, regional and local authorities and institutions as well as with companies and other trade organizations in matters important to water and sewerage supply
On the international scene, the association is represented in EUREAU, the European Union of National Associations of Water Services. This gives the association influence on EU regulations, directives and standards affecting water and sewerage supply. The Danish Water and Waste Water Association is also represented in IWA, the International Water Association.
The secretariat takes care of the day-to-day business and coordinates the activities. It has a staff of 22 persons, including the managing director. The domicile of the secretariat (The Waterhouse) is used for exhibitions, meetings and education activities.
